Status Lights:


  • All Lights
    • All lights remain on: If, after turning the router on, all of the lights remain on after 20 seconds there may be a fault within the router. Try powercycling the router to see if it can recover. If not, you may need to reset the router to factory defaults. To do this, press and hold the recessed Default Reset button on the back until the power light blinks on (about 10-20 seconds). Then release the button and wait for the router to reboot.
  • Power (|)
    • Solid Green: The unit is powered on and it has passed its diagnostics.
    • Off: The power is off, make certain that the power cored is connected to the router and that the adapter is plugged into a functioning power outlet. If it appears to be connected properly, verifty that you are using the 12 V DC 1A power adapter that was supplied with the router.
  • Checkmark ✓ [AKA: Test]
    • On: The router is performing the power on self test diagnostic.
    • Off: The router successfully completed the power on self test diagnostic.
  • Antenna ((i)) [AKA: Wireless]
    • On: The Wireless port is initialized and wireless is enabled.
    • Off: Wireless is turned off or there is an issue.
    • Blinking: Data is being transmitted with a Wireless connection.
  • i with a swish under it ¿ [AKA: Internet]
    • On: You have Internet access.
    • Blinking: Data is being transmitted on the Internet.
  • 1 2 3 4 [AKA: LAN]
    • Solid Green: A computer is connected to this port at 100 Mbps with no activity.
    • Solid Amber: A computer is connected to this port at 10 Mbps with no activity.
    • Blinking Green: A computer is connected to this port at 100 Mbps and there is activity.
    • Blinking Amber: A computer is connected to this port at 10 Mbps and there is activity.
    • Off: No computer is connected to this port. If there is one, check your connections and/or try a different ethernet cable.


Misc Notes:


Hardware reset

     WARNING: This process with ERASE all of your settings! Proceed with caution!
  1. Press and hold the recessed Default Reset button on the back until the power light blinks on (about 10-20 seconds).
  2. Release the button and wait for the router to reboot.


Software reset

     WARNING: This process with ERASE all of your settings! Proceed with caution!

     WARNING (straight from Netgear): IMPORTANT! After hitting "Erase" on step 4, do not try to go online, turn off the access point, shutdown the computer or do anything else to the access point until it finishes restarting! When the Test light (looks like a check mark) stops blinking, wait a few more seconds before doing anything with the access point.
  1. Browse to http://192.168.1.1/
  2. Click on Backup Settings.
  3. It is highly recommended that you back up your settings before proceeding to step 4!
  4. Click "Erase" under "Revert to Factory Default Settings".
