Power Light
Off - Power cable is unplugged or plugged in non working electrical outlet
On - Modem has power
USB Light
Off (Normal use) - USB cable is not connected to Modem or PC
Off (Normal use) - USB drivers are not installed on PC
Off (Powering up) - Modem has not completed initialization
On (Normal use) - USB drivers installed, but no activity
Flashing (Normal use) - USB drivers installed and connection is working
Enet Light
Off (Normal use) - Ethernet cable is not connected to Modem or PC
Off (Powering up) - Modem has not completed initialization
On (Normal use) - Ethernet cable is connected, but no activity
Flashing (Normal use) - Ethernet cable is connected and connection is working
Send Light
Off (Powering up)- Modem has not found downstream, so is not able to send information yet
Off (Normal use) - PC is off or disconnected and no data is being sent out
Flashing (Powering up) - Modem has found downstream and now talking back to ISP to obtain proper config files
Flashing (Normal use) - Info being sent out through cable modem
Recv Light
Off (Powering up) - Modem has not finished initialization
Off (Normal use) - No information being received in to modem from Internet
Flashing (Powering up) - Modem is searching for downstream
Flashing (Normal use) - Info being received through cable modem
Sync Light
Off (Powering up) - Modem has not finished initialization
Off (Normal use) - No cable service to modem, check lines and possible ISP outages
On (Powering up) - Modem has found downstream
On (Normal use) - Modem maintaining downstream
Flashing (Powering up) - Modem searching for downstream
Flashing (Normal use) - Modem lost downstream, likely bad signal levels or ISP outage
Ready Light
Off (Powering up) - Modem has not finished initialization and not found downstream
Off (Normal use) - No cable service to modem, check lines and possible ISP outages
On (Powering up) - Modem has found upstream
On (Normal use) - Modem maintaining upstream
Flashing (Powering up) - Modem searching for upstream
Flashing (Normal use) - Modem lost upstream, likely bad signal levels or ISP outage
Misc Notes:
- The Username and Password for the web interface is "user"
- Internal configuration page allows user to view current signal levels, event logs and other information
- If no cable is connected or active on the line, the modem will issue the PC the IP address of 192.168.100.?(usually 11) allowing access to intneral web page at 192.168.100.1
- When working the lights will look like:
Power, Ready, and Sync lights will be solid green
Either USB or Enet lights will flash, depending on the type of connection used to connect to PC
Send and Recv lights will flash when accessing the Internet
- Normal Acceptable Signal Levels:
TX (8 to 55)
RX (-15 to 15) Ideal is 0
SNR (Above 30)
- Main reasons for bad levels are too many splitters, loose connections, and damaged or low quality cables.
